I am so happy! My parents redid my bedroom for me. No more pink! I chose a Chinese theme and we made sure it was safe for me and for the planet (and still pretty!). Here’s what we did:
We painted my room with no-voc paints which means that toxins aren’t released into the air. I had lots of trouble finding the red I wanted, and Benjamin Moore’s Ben Color Capture iPhone app helped me. You just take a picture of the color that you like (I used a pillow I had), and it shows you paints that match that color. It’s really cool.
My dad laid a bamboo floor. Bamboo is a member of the grass family, so when it’s cut, it grows back quickly. It’s renewable, recyclable, and biodegradable. Bamboo is grown throughout Asia, with 20 percent of the world’s natural bamboo found in China. Even better, it’s what Pandas eat, and I love pandas!
I have lots of Chinese furniture and lamps with eco-friendly lightbulbs and a beautiful framed silk picture that my mom bought in China when she came for me more than ten years ago. It’s called “100 Children” and it’s supposed to be lucky.
I am lucky, because I love my new room and now my parents can’t get me out of it!
