According to Procter & Gamble’s research, children come down with 7 to 10 colds a year. To combat sickness, The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests using a cool mist humidifier throughout the winter months to help relieve congestion and coughs.
So our families tested out Vicks new Starry Night Cool Moisture Humidifier. The problem with many of these machines is they often make odd noises or randomly glow in the corner of your child’s room—which sometimes seems a little scary. But when we used this device, it projected tiny stars across the walls and ceiling through a color-changing light set on top of the humidifier (see video). Our kids loved it! The machine didn’t bother them as they slept, and the room was kept at a comfortable humidity.
Bonus points: Some new research suggests sleeping with a humidifier may decrease the flu virus’ survival on surfaces and in the air by up to 30 percent.
