Are families in the United States searching for greener homes? New research suggests yes.

Realtor.com conducted a survey to discover how eco-friendly housing is catching on with consumers. Turns out, more than 80 percent of respondents would like to own a residence that is eco-friendly, and nearly 70 percent would pay more money for it. Check out a few other intriguing statistics, below:

  • 7 out of 10 people believe eco-friendly features add value to a home
  • 31 percent of respondents currently live in an eco-friendly home
  • 3 out of 4 people surveyed would sacrifice a pool for eco-friendly features in their home
  • Nearly 70% of the respondents currently living in an eco-friendly residence have children.
