Discovery Education and 3M have launched their 15th annual Young Scientist Challenge. Geared towards kids in grades 5 through 8, the challenge boasts a scholarship prize of $25,000 and looks to encourage youth participation in the field of science.
If your kid wants to enter, all he needs to do is create a two-minute video communicating the science behind a solution to an everyday problem that fall into one of three overarching competition categories.
Ten finalists will be selected based on their creativity, scientific knowledge, and presentation—and they’ll get to participate in a virtual summer mentorship program with a 3M scientist! The finalists will also receive a trip to St. Paul, Minnesota to compete in the final challenge during October of this year. Entries are due April 23, 2013.
