If a big camping trip isn’t in the cards this summer, here’s a fun way to give kids a similar experience and raise money for a good cause: Take part in the Great American Backyard Campout on June 28.
Started by the National Wildlife Federation 10 years ago, the event shines a spotlight on the benefits kids get from spending time outside, like longer attention spans and decreased aggression. Families can fund-raise before the big day—and 80 cents of every dollar collected will go toward programs that promote outdoor play. To register, visit backyardcampout.org.
