Rethinking refreshments


The dog days of summer can bring on some serious heat before fall weather hits, leaving kids craving sugar-packed drinks to quench their thirst and cool ‘em down. If you’re looking for fresh, seasonal libations that you don’t have to feel bad about giving the kids, check out these delicious drinks that the whole family will love.

Sparkling Rosemary
Lemonade

Rosemary adds an herbaceous twist to this classic summertime beverage.

½ cup lemon juice from about 3 lemons, combined with 1/2 teaspoon stevia, a natural, zero calorie sugar substitute

½ cup sparkling water

2 sprigs fresh rosemary, plus more to serve

Combine all ingredients and serve over ice, garnish with rosemary

Grapefruit Spritzer
Looking for a drink that packs a punch? Grapefruit’ll make this mocktail as tart as it is refreshing.

½ cup grapefruit juice

1 teaspoon grenadine

½ cup sparkling water

Combine all ingredients and serve over ice, garnish with a cherry

Strawberry-Basil Smash
With fresh strawberries and Zevia, a zero calorie soda sweetened with all natural stevia, summer is the perfect time to serve up this seasonal specialty.

5-6 small strawberries

½ cup basil, roughly chopped

1 can Zevia Zero Calorie Soda in Strawberry

In a mixing glass, muddle the strawberries and basil; add Strawberry Zevia and serve over ice, garnish with a strawberry and basil leaf.
