shutterstock_151209542If you love the sweet smell an air freshener can add to a room, but not the harsh chemicals that can come in store-bought varieties, try a DIY version instead. This spiced option—from blogger Kathleen Bandaruk of 365 Days to Unstuck—is the perfect way to usher in autumn: Add 4 orange slices, 3 to 4 cinnamon sticks, about 10 cloves, and 1 cup water to a saucepan. Boil on low heat and let simmer for about 20 minutes (add more water if it starts to evaporate). Once cool, pour the mixture into a mason jar or other glass container—it’ll last up to 4 days, with refrigeration between uses.
