TeeChia - Expo West TrendsTrend #2: Food Tribes

Trendsetter: TeeChia

The new language of food is to make you feel valued and included, or to highlight  special diet choices for groups of consumers—such as gluten-free, paleo, raw, or vegan lifestyles. Brands are consciously cultivating this “food tribe” mentality through social media engagement, the way they describe their products, and third party verifications. One example I loved from Expo West was TeeChia, an innovative breakfast made with six organic “super seeds” (chia, flax, quinoa, amaranth, ramon, and pumpkin seeds), gluten-free rolled oats, and whole pieces of dried fruit. With 6 grams of protein, 1200 mg of ALA omega-3 fats, and no added sugars, it was surprisingly delicious—and felt a bit like where cavemen meets convenience.
