shutterstock_182976845With a goal of collecting 25,000 pairs, Stride Rite and The Little Gym are accepting gently used children’s shoes through the Big Hearts, Little Shoes campaign during September. Soles4Souls will then distribute the shoes to children in need, both in the U.S. and overseas.

Big Hearts, Little Shoes is a chance for kids to make a tangible difference in other kids’ lives, according to Kiran Smith, Stride Rite’s vice president of marketing.

“For children who grow up barefoot, a donation of a single pair of shoes can change their world,” Smith said. “The Big Hearts, Little Shoes program provides a unique opportunity for kids to help other kids go to school or just go out and play safely.”

To help explain the Big Hearts, Little Shoes campaign to children, parents can watch an animated video narrated by Jonathan Morgan Heit of “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” with them. The video shows kids how their shoes will help others and what happens to their shoes once they’re donated.

As a reward for participating, for every pair of shoes donated between September 3 and September 30, families will receive a 20 percent discount toward a same-day purchase at Stride Rite and, while supplies last, a free class voucher for The Little Gym. If you don’t have a dropoff location nearby, you can fill out Stride Rite’s online donation form. You’ll be sent a pre-paid shipping label and a coupon code for an online shoe purchase.

Find a participating Stride Rite or Little Gym, and learn more about Soles4Souls and how your donation benefits others.
