Animal Playground by Putumayo Kids (Putumayo World Music, all ages)
Animals and kids are already a perfect combination, but add playful beats and you have a CD that begs listeners to push “repeat all.” “No More Monkeys” is a Trinidadian treat with a fast dance beat.

Catch the Moon by Lisa Loeb and Elizabeth Mitchell (Artemis Records, all ages) Loeb and Mitchell harmonize seamlessly on children’s favorites such as “Oh! Susanna” and “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” and also perform the more grown-up “New Morning,” by Bob Dylan. The pair sprinkles in a few original tunes, too, including the delightful title track.

If You Ever See an Owl... by The Terrible Twos (Vagrant Records, all ages) Unless you listen closely to the lyrics, you might confuse this CD for an indie band’s latest release. It contains 15 original songs about counting, burping and bugs, with excellent vocals set to pop beats.
