Fred the dog may be messy, stinky, thieving and naughty, but he is the consistent friend who stays with the young girl in this story no matter what. Divorce is a tough topic but this book manages the subject beautifully. Told from the perspective of the child about her two households, she feels more in control of her situation because her dog is always by her side.
