The publisher declares this book to be the perfect Mother’s Day gift, but the title might remind mom that she hasn’t baked in a long, long time! We propose making mom some treats from this gorgeous book as the gift and saving the book for yourself. It’s the gift (for yourself) that just keeps on giving. This book is full of gorgeous photos which make every recipe appealing. We tried the Spicy Carrot and Pistachio Cake (p 73) and it was divine; we appreciated the new twist on an old favorite. Although the recipes are not low fat, we found that several recipes suggest making cheesecake cupcakes which are perfectly portioned treats, instead of a giant cheesecake staring you and your willpower down. We receive many recipe books each year and the ones with the simple recipes with excellent photos usually end up as favorites. This one is a winner.
