Description
Blue takes care of her first plant! Perfect for springtime and for discussions about Earth Day and the environment. In this original first experience story, Blue learns all about how plants grow in school when each student plants a seed to take home. Blue is anxious for her seed to sprout–but she learns that she must be patient and tend her seed well, because plants need care and time to grow big and strong, just like us!

Along the way, Blue learns about how plants make clean air to breathe and healthy fruits and vegetables to eat. As an added bonus, the inside back cover shows readers how to plant their own sunflower seeds, just like Blue! This book will be printed on 100% post-consumer waste recycled paper with soy-ink. The paper is FSC certified. FSC certified paper is paper that’s certified by the Forest Stewardship Council — a non-profit organization devoted to making sure that paper comes from forests that are well-managed, maintained, replenished, and where soil and waterways are protected.

Blue always has a great lesson! This one is a great one!! DD and I have been watching our flowers grow from the tulips to the lavender and now we are waiting for the daisies to come up and dance in the sun!! DD and DH also tend to the garden where they planted corn and tomatoes and more!

The kids planted seeds for a Mothers Day gift and it sure relates to how impatient they were to see the seed grow and how they were thrilled when it finally poped out of the dirt. Great idea.

My daughter loves Blues Clues a little bit too much, I think. . . Did you hear that Steve going off to college was actually him leaving to pursue keeping his image more suited for the rock band he’s in? Hard to picture as you’re watching the show!!!

  18. Sunnymay Says:

What a cute book that teaches green care with both words and recycled elements in the book itself. The dog looks friendly and invites kids to open the book and turn the pages themselves or with help.

I think learning how things grow is so important - I will never forget a little girl who came over for a playdate when my daughter pulled a carrot from our garden - the little girl had no idea that that is where carrots came from! This book looks helpful in that regard!

  22. jgcho Says:

My 4 year old would love this - we’ve been devouring available Blue’s Clues at the library and I’m happy to see this character used to help kids learn about gardening. (daughter really liked the Healthy Snacks book - this is a good companion)
