Looking for a new way to spice up winter dishes? Consider cardamom. This fragrant seasoning, which combines herbal, spicy, and citrus notes, has become more popular thanks to its versatile nature, says Sara Engram, co-author of The Spice Kitchen: Everyday Cooking with Organic Spice. “The exotic taste is great in both sweet and savory dishes, plus it mixes well with other spices like coriander and ginger,” she explains. Engram suggests mixing freshly ground cardamom into a hearty stew or using it to flavor your baked goods.
