Pizza usually gets a bad rap, but this combo of nutritious whole wheat crust, flaxseeds, and fruit will be a hit with you and your kids. Plus, you can throw this almost-from-scratch pie together in just 25 minutes.

Active time: 5 minutes

Total time: 25 minutes

1 pound whole wheat pizza dough
1 cup ricotta cheese
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds
¼ teaspoon sea salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 large pears, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh basil
2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese

  1. Preheat oven to 500°F.
  2. Stretch or roll pizza dough into a 16-inch oval shape on a baking sheet.
  3. Using a tablespoon, place dollops of ricotta throughout the surface of the dough, and then drizzle the entire surface with honey and olive oil. Sprinkle with ground flaxseeds, sea salt, and pepper.
  4. Top the pie with pear slices and bake for 20 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Remove from oven; add fresh basil and Parmesan cheese. Slice and serve warm.
