Congratulations for being a good friend to Katie S, from Weimar, CA.
Her mother writes:
I am so proud of Katie, she is in fourth grade. Her teacher recently rearranged her classes seating chart. She was put next to a boy who needs some extra help in reading and math. Her teacher knows she has a kind heart and patience. I know they will learn a lot from each other and become better friends. This is something we could all use in our daily life, unconditional help and friendship.
Thanks for listening,
Katie's Mom Colleen
Congratulations to Sammy S. and Brandie D. of Voorhees, New Jersey! They walked three miles for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in support of Brandi’s brother, who has diabetes.
Hi. My name is Sammy S. On Sunday, October 27, 2007, my friend Brandie D. and I participated in a 3-mile walk for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, New Jersey in support of Brandie’s brother, Shaun. He was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 8 months old. I know that everyone wants to know what diabetes is. Well, it’s when your pancreas does not make a chemical called insulin, which breaks down your body’s sugars. Every day his family needs to prick his fingers to see what his sugar is. And he has this thing called a pump— that’s what gives him his insulin. As you see it is not easy to have diabetes. You can’t eat a lot of the tasty stuff that we can, like candy.
In recognition of these accomplishments, Jakk’s Pacific is giving each of our Honor Roll members a Hannah Montana Dance Pad.
Let me know how you’ve helped our planet or others and you may make my honor roll. E-mail me at maylee@kiwimagonline.com. |
