| Hi Friends,
Let me tell you how I learned to love reading.
I write this column and lots of poetry, but I’ve never been one to really love reading. My mom was worried, and she even talked to my teacher about it! One day she took me with her to the bookstore and bought Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. I don’t know what made me interested in this book. Maybe it was the cover or all of the posters of vampires in the bookstore. Well, I sneaked the book out of my mom’s room and started to read and didn’t stop until I got through all four books in the series! I read on the bus, before I went to bed, and just about every chance I got. My mom read it next and we got to talk about it together, telling each other what we liked and didn’t like.
So, here’s my tip if you don’t like to read: Keep looking for a good book! Try different kinds and see what you like. Also, have your mom, dad, or friend read along with you so you can talk about the book. It’s more fun that way. I just started Maylee’s book share so we can all talk about what we like to read!
Happy Reading!
(This is my name in Chinese)
P.S. Last year, Seeds of Change gave me some cute purses made out of their empty rice packages to give away. You loved them so I asked if we could give away more, and they said Yes! Click here to enter to win one. |
