Hi Friends,
No matter what holiday you celebrate, whether it’s Christmas, Hanukah or Kwanza, we all get lots of gifts. But, if you’re like me, you don’t really need more toys and things—but other kids (and animals) do!
For my friend, Hannah M.’s ninth birthday party, she asked her friends to bring a Target gift certificate as a birthday gift. Then she used the gift certificates to buy pet supplies and donated them to the Animal Welfare Association in Voorhees, New Jersey. She was able to give over $400 worth of things that they really needed like dog and cat food, kitty litter, beds, toys and more. So, why not do something like that with your family and friends this holiday? Ask for a gift certificate instead of the usual gifts and donate much-needed things to a local pet rescue, children’s hospital or food bank. Email me to let me know what you end up doing and I’ll post it on my new “Maylee’s Honor Roll.”
(This is my name in Chinese)
