If you’re a typical kid like me, I know you love watching movies. So my friend Delilah Harvey, a 6th grader from Falls Church, Virginia, and I have picked out some of our favorites for you.

These movies are some of my favorites:

Barbie and the Three Musketeers (recommended for girls, ages 4+)
My all-time favorite Barbie movie is Barbie and the Nutcracker, but this is another one I like. The animation is good (even though the characters move around a bit strangely for some reason) and there’s some funny bloopers at the end of the movie. I have all of the Barbie movies and have always thought they were good—but I have to admit, I’m finally too old for them!

Up (recommended for ages 5+)
Not only is this movie pretty and colorful, it has a heartwarming storyline, too. My mom and I both really liked it (but it was a little sad in the beginning when the wife of the main character, Carl, dies). After she dies, Carl ties thousands of balloons to his house in hopes it will fly into the air and take him on an adventure. Overall, this movie is inspirational—it’s about chasing your dreams!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (ages 9+)
I love Harry Potter—but the violence and scary scenes make this a movie for big kids. (Don’t worry, there were lots of funny parts, too!) Since the movie follows the book closely, there’s a lot of stuff to keep track of. I recommend reading the book first!

Ballet Shoes (ages 5+)
This is a cute, entertaining, and girl-empowering movie. It’s about three girls that get adopted by a world-traveling adventurer. Through ballet, acting, and aviation, each girl discovers her own dreams, passions, and talents.
