Filmmaker Ken Burns has set out to acknowledge the natural, cultural, and historical contributions of America's green spaces with a new PBS documentary, The National Parks: America's Best Idea. To celebrate, Burns will premiere clips from his film in New York City's Central Park on Wednesday, September 23 at 7 p.m. The family-friendly movie was filmed over the course of six years, and highlights natural wonders including Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, and the Everglades.

Fortunately, families don't have to be in the Big Apple to get in on the fun. Additional preview screenings will be taking place at various locations across the country this week, and the full-length, six-episode documentary series will kick off on Sunday, September 27 on PBS.
