Volunteer as a Family for MLK Day of Service

For many, Martin Luther King Day is a day off from school and work, a time when families can come together to participate in a day of service. On Monday, January 19, people across the country will volunteer in their communities in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.

The day of service is part of President Obama’s nationwide service initiative—United We Serve—that aims to expand the impact of existing organizations by engaging new volunteers and encouraging volunteers to develop their own community projects.

You can search for volunteer opportunities here, choose from some of the family-friendly opportunities below, or find out how to create your own service project with a volunteer toolkit.
