Without a word, Bob Staake creates a wonderful story for children ages 3-8. It is the story of a friendship between a boy and a bluebird. The story starts as a happy tail of friends coming together, but takes a bit of s sad turn. The ending is a lovely scene, and the story goes from tricolor (shades of gray, white, and blue) to more colorful. It is amazing how this illustrator can say so much with nary a word.
