KIWI Magazine Review:
This is a heartwarming story of a young boy whose father wakes him up with a special knock-knock game and tells him he loves his son. One day, the knocks stop and the young son yearns for his father and the special bond they shared. He doesn’t understand why they can’t be together. Although the story is vague as to why the father doesn’t wake the boy for a long time, the author’s note describes his experience from a young boy to young man when his father was incarcerated. The illustrations perfectly accompany this story, based on the author’s real-life experiences.
