Create Street Art
Grab a handful of friends and colorful chalk (or try out our DIY paint-version on page 25) and usher in summer with bright creations on the sidewalk. Don’t forget a big “WELCOME SUMMER” sign to get the neighbors smiling.
Count The Hours
Celebrate the longest day of the year by making a sundial. Simply place a stick in the ground, then use rocks to mark where the shadows have moved every hour—eventually you’ll have a nature-made clock marked by the rocks.
Party into the Night
Invite your neighbors over for a picnic potluck (for some yummy summer recipes, go to page 58); have everyone wear sunglasses and shades of orange, yellow, and red. Dance to a sun-themed playlist (tracks could include “Good Day Sunshine” by The Beatles, or “Soak Up the Sun” by Sheryl Crow).
