Clean and prepare kale in four simple steps with help from your kids.
- Grasping the stem end of one kale leaf, tear both sides of the green leaf away from the stem. Repeat with all the leaves and discard the stems.
- Place the leaves in a large bowl of cold water. Swish to dislodge any dirt or grit. Let the leaves sit for one minute and then lift the greens out of the bowl and drain in a colander. Repeat until the water is clear.
- Place the greens in a salad spinner and spin until mostly dry. You could also dry the green with kitchen towels.
- With your hands, rip the kale into bite-size pieces.
