Ingredients

Makes 24 servings

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

1 teaspoon Organic Green Cardamom (ground)

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter

1 large egg

2 tablespoons brandy or rum

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Cardamom’s subtle flavor makes these cookies a welcome treat with ice cream, fresh fruit, and fruit desserts.

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.

2. Combine all the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. With an electric mixer, beat in the butter, then add the liquid ingredients.

3. Flatten the dough into a disk shape, wrap with plastic wrap, and chill in refrigerator for 10 minutes.

4. Place walnut-sized pieces of dough 4 inches apart on a well-buttered cookie sheet. Flatten them with the flat bottom of a glass dipped in sugar, and bake for about 7 minutes, or until pale golden. Remove to cooling racks and let cool.
