Ingredients

Makes 4 servings

1 blood orange

2 to 3 tablespoons sugar syrup*

3 lemons

Every spring, when Little League games begin, three little words strike terror into the hearts of health-conscious parents all over the country: post game snacks. Instead of super-sugary juices and sports drinks, refresh your child’s team with this fruity Pink Lemonade.

Directions

1. Juice the blood orange into a 4-cup measuring cup. Add enough lemon juice to the blood orange juice to make 1/3 cup of juice. Fill water into the cup to measure 3 cups total of liquid.

2. Stir in sugar syrup. If the lemonade is too tart to your taste, add more sugar syrup gradually. Serve chilled.

*To make sugar syrup, bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a small stockpot. Whisk in 2 cups of sugar, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved. Allow to cool before storing in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
